The SUTQ Success Curriculum

Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) is a five-star quality rating and improvement system administered by the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. By September 1, 2020, all child care programs wishing to offer publically funded child care, must be star rated.

As the Child Care Resource and Referral Agency for SDA 4, we can assist child care programs with their SUTQ needs. The Early Childhood Resource Center staff can provide you with technical assistance to help your child care program:

  • Obtain an initial star rating
  • Maintain your current star rating
  • Increase your star rating

The Early Childhood Resource Center offers many paths to a one star. These paths include:

  • In person intensive technical assistance at your facility
  • Technical assistance (TA) at one of our office locations during scheduled drop-in TA days.
  • Technical assistance is available via telephone Monday-Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
  • SUTQ 101 cohort sessions (3 weeks)
  • SUTQ Express days
  • SUTQ Peer to Peer support
  • SUTQ fairs

Our signature SUTQ Success Curriculum is designed to break down a seemingly overwhelming process of meeting the state’s quality standards into incremental achievements toward your star rating. It includes well-thought-out leveled technical assistance, professional development, and tailored supports.

For child care programs wishing to enter into the tiered quality rating and improvement system, we offer the SUTQ 101 Sessions in various locations across the region. SUTQ 101 is designed for non-rated programs and includes four work sessions and one-two technical assistance visits. SUTQ 101 prepares programs to apply for a star rating.

SUTQ Express Days provide a fast track peer to peer support option for those wishing to expedite the process and get registered all in one day. Prior to the date, participating providers will receive an email and phone call describing the work that must be completed before the Express Day. On the day of the event, Early Childhood Specialists will support providers by reviewing all documentation required to apply for a one-star rating and will assist with star rating registration in OCQLS. Many express days also offer Ohio Approved training on relevant topics related to One Star standards.

SUTQ Peer to Peer support is designed to allow non-rated programs to work with an administrator at a rated program that can assist you in getting registered. Call today for more information on this program.SUTQ Fairs are offered by ODJFS in conjunction with Resource and Referral agencies to support providers in getting registered.
