The Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, administered by the Council for Professional Recognition in Washington, D.C., is a nationally recognized credential that focuses on the skills of early care and education professionals. Built around six core competencies, CDA Candidates earn 120 hours of training in eight subject areas, compile a professional portfolio, collect questionnaires from parents, and are observed as they care for children in a group setting by a Professional Development Specialist.

Completion of the CDA portfolio is required, along with regular attendance, to complete a CDA certification. More information on the CDA is available on their website.

 

Hybrid Class

 

In-person classes provide hands-on, interactive learning experiences:

  • Classes are split between in-person and online
  • One 2.5-hour class per week, typically
  • Once a month, there are two classes per week
  • A computer with camera is required for virtual classes
  • Classes start mid-August through end of May
  • Offered in Mahoning, Stark & Summit counties

Fast Track & Online

  • Classes are held Tuesday and Thursday mornings
  • All classes available via ZOOM
  • Two 2.5-hour classes per week
  • Morning: 9 am – 11:30 am (classes start in September)
  • A computer with camera is required for online classes
