Every year since 2005, an independent evaluation team has found that SPARK children significantly outscore their non-participating peers in the same classrooms on Ohio’s assessment of kindergarten readiness.

That indicates that SPARK children are starting kindergarten ready to learn. But SPARK also gives children an advantage well beyond kindergarten!

The independent evaluation team found that SPARK children continue to outperform non-participating children on the third and fifth grade state tests in math and language arts. They also found that SPARK children have significantly fewer unexcused absences than their non-SPARK peers.

The facts are in: SPARK confers a significant advantage on children entering kindergarten, and that advantage stays with children as they progress through school.
