The Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, administered by the Council for Professional Recognition in Washington, DC, is a nationally recognized credential that focuses on the skills of early care and education professionals. Built around six core competencies, CDA Candidates earn 120 clock hours of training in eight subject areas, compile a Professional Resource File, collect questionnaires from parents, and are observed caring for children in a group setting. Candidates also meet with a Council Representative for a final review. CDA Credential TrainingThe ECRC provides local training that meets the requirements of the CDA Competency Goals. Classes typically meet one day per week for 3 hours. A full year of training includes 32-35 classes. Center-based and family child care providers welcome. Click here for 2010-2011 Schedule (PDF file). CDA Credential Renewal TrainingA CDA Credential is valid for three years, at which time a candidate can complete a renewal process.
