Continuing our commitment to support the education of early childhood professionals, the ECRC is proud to host students enrolled in Associate or Bachelor Degree programs. Internships are created based on the needs of the student as well as current needs of the ECRC. Examples of internship duties include Intern’s Hours (besides the Friday hours) can be flexible according to your school/work schedule.  Below are areas that could be part of the internship:

Special Activities

  1. Tuesday morning there is an opportunity to work one on one with children
  2. Wednesday and Thursday morning there is a parent/child engagement program
  3. Tues, Wed, Thursday mornings read to children in the library

Creative Activities

  1. The Inspiration Station can be organized into themes and organized themed activities for children and children can be planned and implemented
  2. There are two large bulletin boards that can be personalized and changed
  3. Monthly we offer suggestions for teachers on one large bulletin board in the production area – ideas for teachers can be researched and showcased on this bulletin board
  4. File Folder/Activity Folders can be researched, made and handed out to parents so they can practice kindergarten readiness activities at home
  5. Create signage for outreach programs
  6. Creating games and activities for children in the large Family Event held in September

Specialized Activities

  1. Working on the Web site to add text or photos
  2. Working with social media, such as writing text for emails or e-blasts
  3. Laminating and working with craft projects that will be used for the major fundraiser
  4. Writing copy for fundraising letters
  5. Organize, sort and pack books for the SPARK lessons

Shadow

Each of our staff can be shadowed for a day or a program.

  1. The Early Childhood Specialists work with area child care centers in a teaching and mentoring role.
  2. Parent Partners teach families of 4 year olds prescribed lesson plans as they help the parent and child get ready for kindergarten.  Families are met in their homes or community locations in targeted neighborhoods.
  3. The Parent Engagement Coordinator works with local agencies to bring parenting education into community centers and schools.
  4. The Development Director meets with potential funders both businesses and individuals.

Cooperative Shadow

Many of the agencies we work with have agreed to allow interns to shadow.  We will help you to arrange times to shadow at the other agencies.

This is a non-paid internship.

Students enrolled in early childhood education, human development/family studies, marketing or communications or related fields are encouraged to apply at least 3 months prior to your internship semester.
